On Thursday 4th May, Park View School were honoured to host its second Step into Dance Spring Sharings event. Step into Dance is the biggest secondary school dance programme in the UK, funded by The Jack Petchey Foundation and led by the Royal Academy of Dance.

The Park View dancers showed true dedication, creativity and teamwork when putting together this year’s offering entitled ‘Talk to Me’ choreographed by Step into Dance mentor – Cynthia Lacordelle. They trained weekly after school and at lunchtimes with Ms Malcolm and Cynthia to put together an incredible piece that they could all be truly proud of.

On the night, twelve schools from around the borough graced the stage including; Harris Academy, Woodside High School, Hornsey School for girls and The Vale School just to name a few! The night was filled with a celebration of culture, diversity and dance moves that forced you up out of your seat in appreciation. The audience was full to capacity with over 300 people and was proudly attended by Councillor Ali Gul Ozbek, who expressed his support and admiration for such a fantastic event.

We are pleased to say, two of our Park View students – Nikola and Ndewedo in Year 10, were selected on the night to advance to the next stage of the competition. If successful in the next round, they will have a great opportunity to perform at Southbank Centre later on in the year.

We would like to say a massive thank you to all of the teachers and parents that took time out to attend the event – your support is always much appreciated. Thank you also to Mr Webster for his continued support of Dance within the school and for allowing our students to have the platform to display their talents on such a stage.
