On Tuesday 9th May, Park View welcomed a group of students from a sports academy – Foot Alternance Réussite in Martinique, a French-speaking island in the Caribbean.

The students had never been to Europe before, so were extremely excited to spend the day with our students, experiencing a London school first-hand and getting involved in various activities throughout the day!

The day started with a football match between our Martinique visitors and our Year 10 boys' football team, with an incredible 6-4 win for our students. A fantastic result for our team and a massive well done to the brilliant footballers who took part!

The rest of the day was spent with some of our Year 10 French students taking our visitors on a bilingual tour of the school and taking part in a scavenger hunt. Jean-Peter in Year 11 ran a bilingual quiz in the hall and students took part in conversation workshops. There were also presentations from both groups of students on life in Tottenham and in Martinique.

A massive well done to the Year 10 French students, who were excellent ambassadors of Park View and very welcoming hosts.

Our students said the following about the day:

"Being able to talk to others from a different country which is many miles away was phenomenal." - Ahmed

"The visit made me realise the importance of speaking another language. I had to push myself to speak confidently. The students were really interesting and helpful!"- Mohamed

“I had an amazing experience with the people from Martinique. They were friendly and tried really hard to speak English. It helped me gain more confidence in French and I made some new friends. I really look forward to meeting them again”.- Sonia

"First of all, thank you to everyone involved for the great experience! I loved the whole day and I discovered I could actually speak French! It was incredible and I really want to go to Martinique!" - Kezia
