On 15th November, Year 10 students took part in aspiration visits to four prestigious universities outside of London, all of which are campus based.

Students had the chance to see what life and study is like on a day to day setting in Higher Education. The universities were Anglia Ruskin University, Brunel University, Canterbury Christ Church University and University of Reading.

Each university offered a programme on the day that was tailored to help students learn a variety of interesting facts about university education and campus life. The trips were also a way of breaking down the barriers of progression towards university study.

Students who visited Canterbury Christ Church travelled to the heart of Kent to see a campus where a range of subject disciplines are taught and took part in workshops on Multimedia Journalism and Creative and Professional Writing.

Those who visited Brunel got to see students studying in a multi-cultural environment as well as the largest and one of the most technologically advanced sports halls in the country where Usain Bolt has regularly trained.

All students involved in the trips gained many ideas and facts about university life and education and came away more positive about their individual potential for the future.

Here are a few quotes from students:

“To be honest, since I went on the trip I now want to go to University even more than I did before”

“The tour of the lecture halls, canteen and student accommodation means I know what it’s going to be like in the future”

“The library was so impressive, so many books for so many subjects, there’s a lot to learn!”
