A select group of Year 9 students were taken to the Saatchi Gallery for a second year running, to take part in the Saatchi 'Start' project. The visit is part of the Art Department curriculum enrichment and celebration provision, developing and sustaining educational relationships with artists, art galleries and organisations.
The project theme this year is ‘Identity’ which involves developing work in school supported by gallery visits and workshops, leading to a public exhibition of student work at the Saatchi Gallery in the summer term.
For the first visit and workshop, students were introduced to how different artists approach the theme of ‘identity’ in the exhibition space and then asked to make responses in a variety of media in the education studio, some of which has been earmarked for the summer exhibition already. Students were very proud of their outcomes.
News and pictures from the second visit and workshop to follow in the next edition.
