On 7th March, Park View took part in World Book Day an event that has been celebrated by the school for many years now. Pupils and staff came dressed as literary characters from classic and modern fiction, which showcased their love for their favourite storybook characters.

During lunchtime, pupils were encouraged to join in a group reading session in the hall and to take part in a specially arranged literacy themed treasure hunt that had been set up around the school grounds. A big thank you to everyone who made an effort with their costumes and to everyone who joined in with the reading.

Reading is a crucial part of a young person’s development and regular reading has a huge impact. Various studies have proven that pupils who read regularly are not just better in English, but also Maths and across their subjects. It has also been proved that reading can help pupils to manage their emotions better and empathise with others more successfully. Did you know? That just twenty minutes of reading every day is all that’s needed to make an impact!
