The year councils are organised by the Heads of Year and meet to discuss issues that concern their year group. Two representatives attend the whole school council. School council elections are currently taking place, we will be publishing a full list of elected members early next term. Watch this space!!! The School Council is run by the executive committee that meets weekly to discuss whole school issues and interview key members of staff, including the Head of PSHE Education and Citizenship, and Senior Leadership Team.
The School Council executive committee also represents Park View Academy at key events, such as the launch of the Ministry of Justice, the safety and cohesion award with the London Youth Justice Board, the Haringey Shout Out event, the Haringey Anti-Bullying March, the West Green Neighbourhood meetings and the Gladesmore Community School Value Life event. Some of them have also been nominated for the Haringey Heroes awards.
The School Council also presents assemblies on how to run year councils, they have offered peer mediation advice and have also chaired the whole school parliament. This is where all year councils meet with school council to get an overview of issues in the school and plan actions for next year.
Elections for the school councils are held in the first term of each academic year. These were the members for 2008-09.
Nali Moftizadeh, Heena Mahatma and Louis Kalyango are also members of the Haringey Youth Council. http://www.haringey.gov.uk/youthcouncil.htm
