1. Aims of the Parent School Association
To bring together parents, carers, teachers and others who are interested in supporting Park View Academy school. It provides an opportunity for everyone to work together in whatever way they are able for our common goal of creating a better school for our, and future children attending the school.
2. Our Activities
a. to organise meetings of the association to inform about educational issues and to discuss particular problems in the school;
b. to do fundraising to help provide extras for the pupils and their families;
c. to run social events for parents, carers and pupils at the school;
d. to provide help for the school when requested.
3. Membership
Membership will be open to anyone with a relationship to the school, i.e. parent, carer, teacher, support worker as long as they agree with the aims of the association and they have given their name and address to be put on the mailing list.
4. Annual General Meeting
The members who attend the Annual General Meeting will be the decision making body of the group. Everyone on the membership list will receive at least 2 weeks notice of the AGM by the Secretary organising mailing to all members and putting notices in school newsletters. The meeting will select one of the members to chair the meeting. At this meeting members will:
a. hear a report of the activities of the PSA over the previous year and see the accounts, prepared by the treasurer for year ending the previous 31st March;
b. decide whether there will be a membership subscription for the following year;
c. identify and discuss matters of particular importance for the forthcoming year;
d. make rules on the way the PSA will operate;
e. collect and record names of members who wish to be members of any specific working groups for the forthcoming year;
f. elect 2 members to be Secretary and Treasurer.
5. Other Meetings
At least 5 other meetings for members and all other interested parents, carers, teachers and support workers will be organised each year. The chair of the meeting will be chosen by those present. The minutes of all meetings together with the date of the next meeting will be circulated to all members of the Parent School Association. All these meetings will:-
a. keep members up to date with plans and decisions affecting the school and with planned activities of the Parent School Association;
b. collect the opinions of members.
6. The Work of the Parent School Association
Members who get actively involved in the work of the PSA will follow the general policies agreed by members at the Annual General Meeting. Smaller working groups can meet between general meetings in order to manage the affairs of the PSA including:
a. planning general meetings of the Association and other activities and events;
b. working on funding bids;
c. passing on views of the Parent School Association to people responsible for managing the school;
d. management of finances and publicity for the Association.
7. Finances
A bank account will be set up in the name of Park View Academy Parent School Association. All money received will be put into this account. The Secretary or Chair and the Treasurer will be signatories and any cheques will need 2 signatures.
