School Sports Partnership

Park View Academy School Sport Family (PVA SSF)

PVA SSF is one of the six secondary schools which make up the the Woodside High School Sport Partnership (WH SSP).

In our School Sport Family we are working together with the following primary schools:

  • Belmont Infant School
  • Belmont Junior School
  • Chestnuts Primary School
  • Downhills Primary School
  • Seven Sisters Primary School
  • West Green Primary School

The School Sport Strategy seeks to:

'Create a World Class System for PE & Sport that will increase the numbers of 5 - 16 year olds participating in at least 2 hours of high quality PE and sport in school per week. In addition, the government wants more opportunities for 5 - 19 year olds to participate in a further 3 hours per week of sporting activities through attractive provision designed to stimulate and increase take-up and sustain participation'.

There are 8 strands of the PE & Sport Strategy supported by £2.5 billion until 2011

Haringey has two School Sport Partnerships covering all schools in the borough with outcomes measured through annual school sport survey with funding of £430k per annum.

THE SCHOOL SPORTS PARTNERSHIPS AIM TO:

  1. Increase participation in high quality Physical Education
  2. Increase participation in high quality Out of School Hours Learning
  3. Increase participation in high quality informal activity
  4. Increase participation in high quality competition and performance
  5. Improve attitude, behaviour and attendance in PE and whole school
  6. Increase attainment and achievement in and through PE, OSHL and sport
  7. Increase participation in community based sport & improve the quality of community life

  • Over the last three years we have started to make a difference to the number of young people taking part in at least 2 hours of high quality PE and School Sport very week as the table above shows. In fact, for the last two years we have been ahead of national averages.
  • We are now working more closely than ever with other partners in the borough such as Leisure Services, Haringey Sports Development Trust, the Youth Service, Sport England, Spurs and other sports clubs to provide extended opportunities for young people to be able at access 5 hours PE and sport every week.
