Year 10 students participated in the Tell Me What You See outreach event, hosted by Imperial College London. We had a glimpse into the day-to-day activities of researchers as well as their current projects.

During the creative writing workshop, we looked at three scientific images and produced a short story about each.  The pupils' work captures the imagination with an air of mystery!

Here is a short story written by Year 10 student, Lee:

Blue threads entangled together, intertwining and dancing together. They were friendly and familiar with each other – almost like a family gathering. Violet orbs drifted past each other like lost souls seeking for a meaning. The orbs clashed and crashed into the sturdy strings, catapulting them into unknown space. The orbs clashed and crashed into the sturdy strings, catapulting them into unknown space. The place was a maze, the threads posing as stubborn brick, like you had seen it before, but you pay it no mind, and the orbs as people: confused, delirious and lost. This maze, however, was intricate and difficult, simple yet confusing, stressful yet calming. It was a mixture of emotions flooding in like a waterfall.  No one looked too hard but once your eyes locked it was enticing….it was a trap. A trap to lure you in. To make you question everything. To make you hate it. To make you love it. The blue threads and violet orbs. It was gorgeous. It was repulsive. It…. what was it?
