PSHCE
What is it and why is it important?
Personal, Social, Health, Economic and Citizenship (PSHCE) education gives students with the knowledge, skills, and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe and to prepare them for life beyond school. Our programme is designed to produce students who are able to make informed decisions when faced with challenging situations at school and beyond.
PSHCE education helps students to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to thrive as individuals, family members and members of society. It supports them to manage many of the most critical opportunities, challenges and responsibilities they will face growing up. Whilst also promoting our students spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development.
PSHCE education helps young people to achieve their potential by supporting their wellbeing and tackling issues that can affect their ability to learn, such as anxiety and unhealthy relationships. PSHCE education also helps ours students to develop skills and aptitudes - like teamwork, communication, and resilience - that are crucial to navigating the challenges and opportunities of the modern world, and are increasingly valued by employers.
Our programme recognises that young people will bring prior learning and real life experiences to their learning, respecting and building on these, providing a programme that reflects both the universal and unique needs of our students.
