In March 2020, Park View School received a British Council Grant to fund a school exchange trip for students from disadvantaged areas. A select group of our Year 10 students applied and were selected to visit New York City from 18th May to 24th May.

The aim of the trip was for students to visit a school in another country in order to gain a better understanding of how different schools operate and to gain an appreciation of what life is like for their peers.

We launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to help support this incredible opportunity and allow our students to make the most of this experience. We received overwhelming support from our community, raising £2,352 and receiving an additional £250 donation from the Tottenham Youth Fund.

Thank you to everyone who made a donation - our students had the most incredible time during their visit to New York.

To kick off their school exchange at Brooklyn's High School of Telecommunication Arts and Technology (HSTAT), students participated in icebreaker activities, met with staff and students, and toured the school and available facilities.

Students had a jam-packed week in New York. They explored the sights in Brooklyn and went on a New York cruise, visited MoMA and the Natural History Museum, learned about America's history at the 9/11 Museum & Memorial, shopped in Westfield and Times Square, and indulged in the many flavours America has to offer.

Students spent their final night in New York bowling and dining with their friends from the High School of Telecommunication Arts and Technology. We look forward to sharing their trip highlights and experiences in the coming weeks.
